Since March 2020 we have followed Government and NHS advice on COVID-19, and we will of course continue to do so. This meant that nearly all u3a group activities and the monthly speaker meetings had to be cancelled for a few months to minimise non-essential social contact. A few groups adapted to meeting online and our bimonthly newsletter continued to be distributed to all members. In June 2021, a few u3a groups resumed face-to-face activities, with restricted numbers, either in Covid-secure premises or outdoors (weather permitting), and by October more groups had also started to open up. Our monthly speaker meetings restart in November with restricted capacity and we hope these will be able to continue in their regular second Monday slot from now on. For everyone’s safety, all attending must be double vaccinated or have had a recent negative COVID test (lateral flow or PCR) result, but If you feel ill or have any Covid symptoms you must not attend. Hand sanitiser should be used on entry, and masks must be worn (unless exempted) when moving around the room. A register of those attending will be made and retained. Windows and doors will be open for ventilation. Our committee and dedicated band of group leaders look forward to seeing you. We’re not out of the [Covid] woods yet so please continue to take care and keep well.
